The mug and its knob are hand thrown on my potter's wheel on the south coast of Dorset. When the mug has dried for a day, a handle is pulled from a lump of clay and attached to the mug. The knob is also attached. When it is bone dry, the mug is loaded into the kiln for its first firing - the bisque firing - which reaches 1050 degrees Celcius.

The mug is then ready to glaze. The interior and exterior of the pottery mug are covered in a glossy glaze turquoise and green. After glazing, it then returns to the kiln for its final high firing which reaches 1240 degrees Celcius.

Love the cute knob that helps lift the mug and grasp it without using fingers.

I designed this mug to help a friend to continue to enjoy a cuppa in a pottery mug (not a grim plastic 2 handled beaker!) during the times when holding one handle was not secure / safe enough.
